Description
The Church of the Santi Ansovino e Carlo Borromeo is a seventeenth century reconstruction of a previous building. It displays a simple façade overlooking the small town square of Pescia.
Inside, it has a single nave. There is a painting of the Madonna of the Rosary with the 15 mysteries and a representation of the Battle of Lepanto (17th century). The Altar of St. Joseph has a darkened picture depicting the passage of the saint between Christ and Mary (17th century). The stucco high altar has a modern painting and there is also a wooden statue of St. Anthony Abbot. Other pieces of interest are: the altar of St. Anthony Abbot and St. Francis with its seventeenth century painting and a copy of the Our Lady of Sorrows of Norcia on the table; the altar of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the Saints Joseph, Anthony of Padua, Jerome, Nicholas of Bari and the souls of Purgatory (signed by Paolo Antonio Mattei from Castel S. Giovanni di Cascia, 18th century); small papier mâché statues of the Saints Philip Neri, Emidio, Anthony of Padua, Aloysius Gonzaga.
The sacristy has a seventeenth-century painting depicting the Madonna with St. Charles and another Saint, previously kept on the high altar and currently under restoration.
